Small firm, real projects, no hiding.
We’re a young firm doing work that matters to the people who hire us, and we’re built to stay small and capable rather than large and average.
That shapes what it’s like here. There’s no bench to sit on and nowhere to be invisible. You’ll be on real client work early, you’ll have your name on it, and you’ll be in rooms where decisions get made rather than reading about them afterwards.
What we’re actually looking for
Grit, mostly. This work rewards people who will read the whole staff report, sit through the meeting nobody wants to sit through, and notice the thing on page forty that changes the answer.
The technical knowledge is teachable and we’ll teach it. The willingness to do the unglamorous reading that makes the difference is not.
How we operate
- Extreme ownership. If it’s yours, it’s yours, including telling us early when it’s going sideways.
- Deadlines are real. Jurisdictions don’t move theirs, so we don’t move ours. Within that, how you work is largely up to you.
- We don’t micromanage. That only works if the first two are true.
- We celebrate the wins. Approvals are hard and take months. Marking them matters.
Internships
We take interns onto real projects, record research, staff report analysis, submittal preparation, and sitting in on hearings. Not filing, not coffee.
You’ll work directly with both principals, which at a firm this size isn’t a perk we’re inventing; it’s just how it works. If you’re studying planning, real estate, civil engineering or public policy and you want to see how land use decisions actually get made, this is a good place to find out.
How to apply
Send us a note about what you’ve done and what you want to learn. Not a cover letter template, tell us about a problem you worked on and what you’d do differently.
If we don’t have a role open, we’ll say so plainly rather than leaving you wondering.
